Consumer Complaints

Payday Loan Companies no longer have an exception to Arizona’s Consumer Lenders Act.  Just like other consumer lenders in the state, they must now abide by the 36% annual interest rate cap on consumer loans.

Arizona Attorney General’s
Operation Sunset

“OPERATION SUNSET” was started by former Attorney General Terry Goddard, to ensure lenders’ compliance with the 36% interest rate cap.  Current Attorney General Tom Horne is continuing Operation Sunset.

Companies may not offer triple-digit interest payday loans in Arizona any longer, and should have taken down any signs indicating they do.  National payday loan companies that continue to do business in Arizona must abide by the Consumer Lenders Act - Ariz. Revised Statute 6-632 – capping interest rates at 36% APR.
