Laurie Roberts, AZ Republic: “fibs, falsifications and fairy tales”
In Saturday’s Arizona Republic, columnist Laurie Roberts clearly lays out the reality behind Prop 200’s rhetoric:
“I don’t know about you, but I’m sick of this election. Claims and counterclaims, lies and more lies, fibs, falsifications and fairy tales.
If politicians and those who seek to persuade us were Pinocchio, they’d have schnozes long enough to keep the entire Western Hemisphere in firewood this fall…
It’s not all that much better closer to home. Consider the initiatives on next month’s ballot.
There is Majority Rules, which is not about the majority ruling at all but about nixing the possibility that somebody might come along and try to stick a new tax on the liquor industry.
There is Reform Payday Loans, which isn’t about reforming payday loans at all but about making sure that Legislature can never kill the industry and its 391 percent loans.”
